KALAMAZOO, Mich. — One person was arrested after Kalamazoo police responded to multiple calls of gunfire Tuesday morning.
It happened in the area of the 1200 block of Washington Street, according to a news release.
A citizen told police that several individuals ran toward a vehicle immediately after the gunfire was heard.
Officers saw a vehicle that had lost control on the icy roadway and hit a snowbank and tree.
Several of the people in the vehicle tried to leave the area after seeing the officers; two of them were immediately detained and a third fled on foot.
Kalamazoo police pursued the fleeing individual and apprehended him after a brief foot chase.
During the pursuit, the man discarded a gun in a snowbank.
He was arrested on charges of resisting and obstructing as well as several weapons violations.
The man was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile home.
Additional drug and ordinance violation charges are being requested against the other individuals involved.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
