KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo police seized three guns during a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Officers were conducting a directed patrol around 10 p.m. in the 600 block of Portage Street to address quality of life concerns reported by the community, according to a news release.
While conducting a traffic stop of a car for a traffic violation, one of the passengers fled on foot.
Police weren’t able to find the passenger because of inclement weather.
The other two passengers had handguns on them, and a search of the vehicle showed evidence that a third gun may have been involved, Kalamazoo police said.
They were both identified as 22-year-old Kalamazoo residents and have been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on weapons charges.
