Kalamazoo Public Schools summer food program begins July 7

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Summer Food Service Program for children and challenged adults in Kalamazoo will run this year between July 7 and August 13.

The Kalamazoo Public Schools estimates it has already served 750,000 Grab-and-Go meals since March when response to the coronavirus pandemic kicked in.

For the summer program, free meals are available for children 18 and under and to adults up to 26 years old who are enrolled in educational programs for the mentally or physically disabled that are recognized by a state or local educational agency.

KPS says proof of income is not required, parents or guardians can pick up meals for their kids without the children being there, children can pick up meals without having parents or guardians present, meals don’t have to be eaten on site, and no application is required.

Food distribution takes place each Tuesday and Thursday July 7 – August 13 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the sites listed here, with the two exceptions at the bottom of the list:
