KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of scammers pretending to be part of the sheriff’s office, a news release said Wednesday.

Reports ask residents to call 269-459-3189 for fingerprinting scheduling, saying that these fingerprints are needed for various reasons.

The answering options pose as an office line for the sheriff’s office.

However, this is not a valid number for any area of Kalamazoo County Government.

Police urge residents to be aware that unsolicited calls may be a scam.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office will not call unannounced to advice people of arrest warrants or to demand payment for fingerprints.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and call the sheriff’s office’s actual main line at 269-383-8745.
