GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Today marks 2 years since Ashley Young, a woman from Kalamazoo, was murdered and dismembered.

Sunday evening, family and friends of Young gathered to help keep her memory alive.

A vigil was held at her mother's home in Grand Haven, with COVID-19 precautions in place.

Loved said prayers and lit candles for the 31-year-old.

She was last seen alive on this day in 2018, at a hookah lounge in Grand Rapids.

Police later found parts of Young's mutilated body in the home of Jared Chance, who is currently serving a life sentence.

Chance's parents, who helped cover up the murder, spent a few weeks in jail and will be serving a year of home-bound probation.
