BALDWIN, Mich. — The Courthouse will be closed publicly Tuesday and Wednesday of next week according to Lake County.

Disinfecting and sanitizing procedures are the precedent for the close. The building was already scheduled to close on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

There is no reason for public concern, as there has been no breakout or other health concerns. These disinfecting actions are proactive procedures.

Lake County Administer Tobi Lake stated, “After discussions with various stakeholders, we have decided to close the courthouse to the public on Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th. Coupled with the MLK holiday on Monday the 18th, this will allow maintenance and the cleaning crews an opportunity to disinfect and sanitize the courthouse thoroughly. We apologize about any inconvenience to the public, but this is something we’ve wanted to see done for some time and a five-day stretch provides the perfect opportunity.”

Currently, the Lake County Courthouse is operating county functions by appointment only and will resume so on Thursday, January 21st, 2021. Offices will still be staffed and available by phone. Any court related questions can be referred to (231)745-4614.
