LAKETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — At least one person is dead following a crash on I-196 in Laketown Township Tuesday afternoon.
Michigan State Police (MSP) says the crash happened near Saugatuck at mile marker 43.

Both the driver and his passenger were thrown from the vehicle.
MSP says the passenger, a 29-year-old man from Holland, died on scene.
The driver, a 32-year-old man from Zeeland, was injured and taken to a nearby hospital but is expected to survive.
According to MSP, seatbelts were not in use at the time of the crash.
The freeway was closed for two hours Tuesday afternoon while clean-up and investigations took place.
