ALLEGAN, Mich. — The Allegan County Prosecutors Office announced charges filed against Dennis Lee Bowman in the disappearance and death of his adoptive daughter, Aundria Bowman.
Dennis Lee Bowman is charged with Open Murder, Felony Murder, Child Abuse in the 1st Degree, and Mutilation of a Body.
Aundria went missing in spring of 1989 from her home in Filmore Township but definitive leads in the case were not found until fall of 2019. In a joint effort, Sheriff's Deputies in Allegan County and Michigan State Troopers were working with police in Norfolk, VA and the Navy on a 1980 Virginia Murder, charging Dennis Lee Bowman in that case and extraditing him to Virginia.
While investigating his home in Allegan County, police found skeletal remains in a shallow grave. DNA testing showed the remains were Aundria's.
Dennis Lee Bowman will be extradited back to Michigan and faces life in prison if convicted.
