WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police are asking for tips in their investigation of a dog who was shot in Allegan County.
Authorities were called Wednesday night after a dog was found in the area of 129th Avenue and 5th Street in Wayland Township with a fresh gunshot wound to his neck.
The dog was taken to a vet for treatment.
Troopers are searching for the dog’s owner and the person responsible for shooting it. If the dog recovers from the injury, it will be turned over to the Allegan County Animal Shelter unless the owner is found.
The owner of Dorr Veterinary Clinic, where the dog is being treated, said he is expected to make a full recovery,
“He’s walking around, wagging his tail," said Kayce Koski. "Happy as can be. Ate a whole bunch of food for me last night, took some pain medication and had a comfy night stay until today when we’re addressing his wounds.”
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Michigan State Police Wayland Post at 269-792-2213.
