BURR OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead after driving off the road and hitting a tree.
It happened just after 9:15 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Middle Colon and Kibloski Roads in Burr Oak Township.
Deputies say the driver, a 56-year-old man from Burr Oak, went offroad and hit a tree.
He was taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries.
The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Speed does appear to be a factor according to deputies but its still under investigation.
