MUSKEGON, Mich. — Tabatha Price says the last thing she wants to do is ask for charity since her insurance already paid for her dentures. However, she says her situation is becoming desperate and she's not getting any solution from Muskegon Family Care.
"I feel bad for the other people that are going through the same thing cause it's just not only me," Price said.
Like many Muskegon Family Care patients, Price says she heard of the facility's impending closure through Facebook. She hoped it was just a rumor.
Price said, "I was about to lose my mind because I didn't know if I'd get my dentures or not."
She says the dentures she's had for eight years now broke.
"I have them gorilla glued," she said.
So for the past two months she says she's gone through the process of getting new moldings through MFC and says Monday she was supposed to get one last impression.
"But when I went to Muskegon Family Care dental they told me that I'd have to start all over and get a new dentist," she recalled.
She said, "And they're not cheap. It's about a $3,000 process."
Price says the price tag is covered by Medicaid, but she says she's being told Medicaid won't pay for them again.
"Can't transfer the molds to another doc," she said.
So her request is simple.
"I just want my teeth. I just want something done. I don't see why they can't transfer to another dentist, why they can't transfer the teeth to another facility, and they told me they can't do that," Price said.
FOX 17 reached out to a spokesperson for Muskegon Family Care to see what options Price has and if her impressions can be sent to another dentist office.
