NORTON SHORES, Mich. — A Muskegon man has died and a teen is injured after a shooting in Norton Shores Thursday afternoon.
The deceased victim is identified as Jamarr Tyrece Burse. He was 24.
The Norton Shores Police Department (NSPD) says a car was found in the intersection at Columbia Avenue and Continental Street after responding to reports of shots fired at around 1:20 p.m. A man was found inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound.
We’re told officers administered CPR but were unable to save the victim, who has since been described as a Muskegon-area man in his 20s.
NSPD says a second gunshot victim, a male Muskegon teen, was a passenger in the vehicle. Authorities say he ran off to a nearby residence. He was reportedly transported to a nearby hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Police say the teen's name will not be released.
No arrests have been made. However, police say the suspect, described as a Black man, drove off in a light-colored sedan.
NSPD also says the shooting was a targeted incident, with no reason to believe there is an immediate danger to the public.
