HOLLAND, Mich. — A porch pirate caught on camera in Holland will likely face charges.

Police say a 16-year-old Holland teen stole packages from multiple homes.

In a video posted by the Holland Department of Public Safety, the suspect is seen going up to a home, taking a package from the front door and sprinting away, he then speeds off in a pick-up truck shortly after.

Holland police say they found the truck and the 16-year-old who was driving it.

“The officer questioned the suspect and the detective followed up on it later on and they were able to link most of the package larcenies to that one person, he possibly did all of them,” Holland Department of Public Safety Police Captain Keith Mulder explained.

Police believe he’s responsible for at least eight incidents reported this month.

“We’ll be seeking charges in the juvenile probate court against the 16 year-old,” Mulder added.

Since the incident took place before the new "porch pirate" law went into effect, it will be up to the prosecution to see what charges he faces.

Under the new law, package thieves now face up to a year in jail, repeat offenders could face up to five years in prison.

“It doesn’t change a lot of what we do as far going after them, it changes more as far as the court process on what they get charged with at the prosecution level to go against him,” Mulder said.
