GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two people are hospitalized following a crash in Georgetown Township Thursday afternoon, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
We’re told the crash happened on 44th Street and 14th Avenue.
Authorities say a 15-year-old Hudsonville teen in a Nissan sedan was driving west on 44th Street and stopped before the traffic light when she turned onto 14th Avenue. While turning, she pulled into the path of a semi traveling east, which was unable to avoid crashing into the Nissan, the sheriff’s office explains.
Deputies say the Nissan driver was taken to Spectrum Butterworth in serious condition, adding the passenger, described as a 31-year-old Hudsonville woman, was critically injured in the crash and had to be airlifted via AeroMed.
We're told the 57-year-old semi driver from Grand Rapids was unharmed in the crash.
Part of 44th Street was closed after the crash, according to Ottawa County dispatchers, who say the closure affected the area between 8th Avenue and 14th Avenue.
