GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — The man convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in a gas station parking lot will spend at least the next 25 years in prison.

Gregory DuJardine was sentenced Friday to a maximum of 75 years behind bars for second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

DuJardine was accused of following a woman to a gas station in Port Sheldon Township where he approached and assaulted her on September 8, 2024.

The woman was able to fight him off and call 911. Officers tracked DuJardine to Muskegon where he was arrested a day later.

This is not the first act of this nature committed by DuJardine— in fact he was out on parole at the time from a sexual assault he committed in 1988. Released from prison in January 2024, DuJardine spent a significant amount of time in public places, including parks and beaches, tracking potential targets, according to the judge.

DuJardine was sentenced as a 4-time habitual offender, having admitted to and being sentenced for several other similar assaults.

His victim in the most recent assault shared how the attack changed her whole perspective on the world.

"I've explained many times how this assault has made me even more aware of my surroundings and has has made me uneasy whenever I'm in public or even home alone, because I'm afraid I may be attacked unprovoked," the woman said.

She called on the judge to give DuJardine the maximum sentence for his crime.

FOX 17 is not identifying the woman since she is the victim of a crime.
