GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A cell phone store robbery led to a chase across two counties.

It started around 2:35 p.m. on Friday at the Verizon store near the Meijer on Cottonwood Dr.

5-6 men walked in and demanded money while taking a number of items from the store, according to employees.

A nearby Ottawa Co. patrol unit spotted the SUV that employees described and followed it.

This started a high speed chase that crossed over into Kent Co., before deputies were forced to call it off because of the heavy traffic.

Detectives are working with other nearby departments that have seen similar robberies to catch the suspects at large.

If you know anything about the incident, call the Ottawa Co. Sheriff's Office or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
