HINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 19-year-old male was seriously injured after a snowmobile crash early Monday morning in Mecosta County, according to a news release.

Deputies from the Mecosta County Sherrif’s Office responded just after 2 a.m. to a single snowmobile hitting a tree in Hinton Township.

The driver was transported to the Big Rapids Spectrum Health Hospital.

His injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.

He was later transported to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Alcohol and a high rate of speed are believed to have been factors in the crash.
