SIX LAKES, Mich. — Dennis and Sam Belson say the love and support from the community in the search for and sudden loss of their son, Beau, has been overwhelming.

In the midst of grieving, they wanted to make sure the hundreds of volunteers whom they'll never get to thank personally know what they mean to them.

On Christmas, Michigan State Police put out an alert stating Beau was nowhere to be found. The 5-year-old had been outside playing with family members at his grandmother's home in Six Lakes when he went missing that afternoon. That prompted a massive search party.

"Search and rescue from everywhere came," Dennis Belson said.

He said, "We appreciated everything everybody did."

Beau's mother Sam, said, "People were praying with me, comfort me, my husband and family."

The Belsons says nothing is tougher than the loss of a child, and three young siblings lost a brother.

"Beau, he was always happy. Never would hurt a fly," his father said.

Sam Belson said, "He was a lover kind, heart of gold."

"(The) anchor in our home that's gonna be missed," Dennis Belson said.

Since Beau's sudden passing, she says her family has drawn closer than they've ever been.

"I feel like he made an impact on everybody," Dennis Belson said.

"Out of everything, that's what he did to this community. (Beau) brought everybody together, and I'm proud of him. I love him. Miss him everyday," he said.

Dennis Belson said, "He was our little boy, our little man. Hopefully he's doing great things up there."

The family set up this GoFundMe (link here) called 'Blessings for Beau'. There's also a benefit on Sunday, the 29th, at the St. Louis Moose Lodge from 5 pm to 7 pm. There will be Sloppy Joe meal and sides, a raffle and 50/50.
