GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The bodies of two people were found in an overturned car Thursday morning, say Newaygo Co Sheriff's Deputies.
A jogger found the car in a ditch on 110th St, west of S Oak Avenue just after 6 a.m.
"[The road is] typically used by the folks that do the farming in the area— It gets very little traffic," Newaygo County Sheriff Bob Mendham told FOX 17. "Our officers responded and found two males deceased in the vehicle."
How long the car had been there is still in question, though investigators believe it happened in the evening or overnight Wednesday.
"Only thing we can figure at this point is they were trying to turn around and they got a little too close to the edge and lost control, slid off into the ditch," said Mendham, explaining the bottom of the ditch was very soft and the car likely sank when it overturned.
Deputies are working to identify both victims and notify their families. FOX 17 will publish updates as details become confirmed.
