PLAINFIELD TWP, Mich. — Several vehicles and semis were involved in a crash Monday morning.
The FOX 17 Weather Warrior was on scene when it happened and has been sending back information.
Michigan State Police posted an update on social media, saying at least 2 semis and approximately 15 vehicles were involved.
The crash started before 10:30 a.m. on I-96 eastbound near Alpine Ave and the US-131 interchange.
The freeway reopened at Alpine Avenue just before 12:15 p.m.
Michigan State Police says another accident on I-96 at US-131 also involves multiple vehicles. Road conditions are poor with the single-digit temperatures making salt ineffective at melting any snow or ice on the pavement.
The wind is also blowing snow, making it tough to see far enough ahead to be driving at the posted speed limit. MSP warns drivers to take it slow.
There are multiple crashes throughout the district including a multi-vehicle crash on Alpine and I-96 and another multi-vehicle crash at I-96 and US-131. Details are still coming in and will be shared here @MSPWestMI as they become available.
