2,000+ Cass County customers without electrical service

CASS COUNTY, Mich. — More than 2,000 Midwest Energy & Communications customers lost power at midday Saturday.

The outage occurred shortly before noon Saturday and involved 2,063 of the company's 13,711 Cass County customers.

Midwest Energy & Communications said that the outage was caused by "an equipment issue at a substation" and involved mostly customers in Hamilton, LaGrange, Silver Creek, Volinia and Wayne townships.

Electrical service continued uninterrupted for all 13,445 customers of Indiana Michigan Power in Cass County.

There was no estimated time of restoration available. Midwest Energy & Communications said that "we hope to have everyone restored shortly."
