FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person is dead and two others were seriously injured during a Wednesday morning crash in St. Joseph County.
It happened about 4:30 a.m. on US-12 near Sweet Lake Road in Fawn River Township, a news release said Thursday.
A 19-year-old woman from LaGrange, Indiana was eastbound in a 2007 Nissan Altima when the vehicle crossed the center line and hit a westbound 2008 Kia Rio, a police investigation showed.
The driver of the Kia, a 54-year-old Sherwood man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, a 30-year-old Bronson man, was transported to Sturgis Hospital with severe injuries, along with the 19-year-old driver of the Nissan.
Seat belts were worn at St. Joseph County police do not believe alcohol to have been a factor in the crash.
