FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person was seriously injured during a Friday morning crash in which drugs were believed to have been a factor, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Deputies responded about 7:20 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash on Lutz Road near Roys Road in Florence Township.
They determined a Lexus SUV was originally northbound on Lutz Road when the driver appeared to lose control on icy road conditions and went off the west side of the road, hitting a tree.
The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Centreville, was transported to Bronson Hospital with serious injuries and was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Constantine Police and Fire departments and Lifecare Ambulance.
