COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man claiming he heard voices telling him to get rid of his home is in jail after he admitted to setting it on fire.
The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office says the 61-year-old was found outside his burning home Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to the house on Summit Road, just south of the train tracks in Grand Junction. They were the first to speak with the man, who was naked and wrapped up in a blanket.
According to deputies, the man admitted to pouring some fuel inside his kitchen, then lighting it on fire.
A K9 from Kent County was called in, and detected the accelerants in the remains of the house.
The fire remains under investigation.
The man is being held on an outstanding warrant for possession of meth.
