A Michigan State Police trooper saved a dog who had fallen through the ice over the weekend with the help of some neighbors.
The trooper was called to a Van Buren County home on Saturday after the lab mix fell through the ice about 10 feet from the shore. When the couple who owned the dog couldn’t get her out, they called for help.
When Trooper Brett Skoczylas got there, the dog only had her head and paws out of the icy water. He found a ladder to set on the ice to spread out his weight and got some help from a neighbor to balance it to retrieve the dog.
