PAW PAW MICH. — After months of talks, Paw Paw Public Schools is one step closer to their new mascot.
They announced at a board meeting tonight they're moving forward with the Red Wolves.
A focus group made up if students and staff narrowed it down from three choices: the lions, the phoenix, and the wolves.
At the meeting they noted the final vote will be made in July.
By then, the student task force will also present options for what the mascot will look like.
At the board meeting, superintendent Rick Reo said, "27 students were part of that task force that did a whole lot of work together and did an amazing job."
The school district decided to drop their former mascot, the Red Skins, back in MaRch after superintendent 'Rick Reo' said it wouldn't be welcoming to all students.
School board vice president, Dale Pease, added, "I'm excited to see how the district rebrands itself in the community, in the district."
