PAW PAW, Mich. — Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott is going to be the first Michigan law enforcement officer to appear on “Live PD” on A&E.

Abbott will be featured on a segment regarding an Aug. 16 chase that ended when he used a “pit maneuver” to get an arson suspect into custody.

The show is paying to fly him to New York to tape a segment on the chase, which will air in the spring. Abbott is among the first handful of sheriffs to be on the show.

James Ochoa-Rodriguez, the suspect in the case, is still in custody on charges including fleeing and eluding police, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and operating a vehicle under the influence.
