DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Two teens admitted to breaking into 10 vehicles between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Dowagiac Police told FOX 17 they got a call at 1 a.m. from one victim who had surveillance footage of the break in near the 200 block of First Street. Officers decided to split up when they saw two subjects acting suspiciously near Cass Avenue and Hill Street. One officer watched the two subjects, the other met up with the victim to watch video of the crime.
In the video the officer saw one of the subjects being watched by their partner. When the officers stopped the pair, the 16 and 14 year-old males confessed to breaking into about 10 cars over the course of the evening. The 16 year-old still had some of the stolen property in the backpack they were carrying.
The teens have been released into the custody of their parents, and charges are pending authorization from the Cass County Prosecutor's Office.
