GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Gerald R. Ford International Airport Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is looking to fill positions. Additionally, TSA is looking to fill over 6,000 Transportation Security Officer (TSO) positions.

“TSOs are a critical first line defense in securing our nation’s commercial air transportation system,” said Melanie Harvey, acting Executive Assistant Administrator for TSA’s Security Operations. “Each day, our officers screen hundreds of thousands of airline travelers ensuring they arrive at their destinations safely. We expect to screen a higher number of travelers regularly by the summer months and will need additional officers to support our critical mission.”

TSA launched these national efforts due to anticipated seasonal travel trends alongside the progress of COVID-19 vaccinations. So far, the efforts have reached 430 national airports.

Targeted recruitment, virtual job fairs, and opportunities in dozens of cities have already been announced for part-time and full-time opportunities.

Information on the duties of a TSO can be found in a video titled “Day in the Life of a TSO [tsa.gov]”. Details about open positions for TSOs country-wide is available online at TSA.gov [usajobs.gov]/TSO.

Applications for local part-time positions can be found here [usajobs.gov] and full-time positions here [usajobs.gov]. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 26.
