GRAND HAVEN — Our Memorial Day Marine Forecast was interrupted by an impromptu live demonstration of just how well the fish are biting on Lake Michigan.

MEMORIAL DAY LAKE MICHIGAN MARINE REPORT
The Big Lake promises a beautiful weekend as waves will be calm, cresting at around 1' through Sunday.
Friday, May 26
Overnight winds will whip around from the north but come mainly out of the southwest from 6 a.m. until about 3 p.m. when they’ll start to come out of the south/southeast. Speeds will peak at around 11 knots with gusts in the morning and midday up to 13 knots – roughly 13-15mph for those of us land lubbers.
Saturday, May 27
Windspeeds are expected to be 8-10 knots with gusts between 10- and 12 knots. You’ll feel it from the south/southwest during the day before shifting to coming from the south/southeast in the afternoon and evening.
Sunday, May 28
Windspeeds start around 8 knots from the southwest and will get up to around 11 knots with gusts between 11- and 13 knots coming from the east in the evening.
Monday, May 29
Winds continue from the east in the overnight hours before switching to the southeast during daylight hours, then back to the east as evening approaches. Speeds will run between 8- and 11-knots with gusts between 10- and 12-knots
Chances of precipitation will belittle to none but do grow a bit from Sunday into Monday.
Air temps will be warm on land—but make no mistake, it will be cold on the Big Lake with temperatures in the mid-upper 40s and windchills in the mid- to upper-30s all weekend.
