KENTWOOD, MICH. — The holidays are quickly approaching and one of the ways you can help pay it forward to people in need is by donating books.

There’s a holiday book drive that collects hundreds of books each year for charities and underprivileged children across the country.

It's an annual event held at Barnes & Noble stores across the US including at the Woodland Mall in Kentwood.

From now until December 12, you can buy a book from Barnes & Noble to donate.

They are hoping to get books for people of all ages, from kids to adults.

This year the store at the Woodland Mall has chosen to donate all books collected to the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

“It's just a really great way to give kids in our community the gift of reading. I know, customers come in, and they bring in their favorite books from their childhood or something that really made a mark on them as a teenager, and they are giving it to a kid within Grand Rapids, who's going to read it and hopefully have a similar kind of experience,” says Maggie Kelly, Sales Manager at Barnes & Noble.

Kelly says this program is something they look forward to every year.
