LANSING, Mich. — Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers may consider petition forms for a new “Patriot Party” according to the tentative meeting agenda Thursday.

The consideration is pending the party sponsor's submission of an affadavit and other documents.

The move would be the very first, initial step to creating a new, recognized political party in Michigan.

The idea of establishing a pro-Trump Patriot Party has floated around social media in the months following the election.

Last month, the “MAGA Patriot Party National Committee” based out of San Antonio, Texas filed a statement of organization with the Federal Election Commission. The group filed to raise money for former President Donald Trump, but Trump’s official campaign distanced themselves from the new group.
