DELTON, Mich. — A tree service in Barry County featured by the FOX 17 Problem Solvers is accused of taking money and not doing the work.
Now a third person claims they too were ripped off by the same person.
A person speaking under the condition of anonymity tells the FOX 17 Problem Solvers they hired Darren Huffman of Darren’s Tree Service to take down a damaged tree in May of this year.
A receipt shows the person put down $500 cash for a $1000 job, a job they say Huffman never completed.
They considered going to small claims court and wrote a certified letter to Huffman, who sent a letter back.
The letter came with $250, In it Huffman claims he is medically unable to perform his duties, but is keeping $250 for labor and removal of debris.
The person we spoke with says they should’ve got all their money back and that Huffman did nothing.
We’ve tried multiple times to get in touch with Huffmanand on Wednesday we found a new address listed on that receipt, so we paid it a visit.
A woman who walked outside the home was surprised by our visit and asked if we were there because of a specific person or client.
She went back inside, and we waited for several minutes until we saw them close the blinds.
Still no word from Darren.
