Tarry Hall roller skating rink in Grandville is turning back the clock on adults who grew-up going roller skating with its Adult only 18 and up Thursday nights. Jenny Steketee and her husband just purchased the long running business in January, but having worked there for 17 years, Jenny knows the momentum that is building for skating right now for people of all ages. “I know there’s a great response just from the post we put up on Facebook, so it’s looking like it’s going to kick off pretty good,” she told Fox 17 leading into the first adult night which was Thursday, February 4th, adding, “I think a lot of parents and adults are itching to get back out and socializing, people are definitely ready to start reengaging.”
Steketee told Fox 17 that skating has become so popular of late, manufacturers are having a hard time keeping up with demand. “So there really is the desire and the need for people my age, my generation, that grew up in roller rinks that we want, ‘Hey can we have some time for us where we can just get out there and not be dodging toddlers all night long?’”
Adult night is every Thursday from 8:30p-11pm and IDs will be checked at the door. “We chose that time so that if there are couples like my husband and myself, we can get the kiddos down, have a babysitter watch them and head out for like a date night, something we did growing up and had a blast,” Skeketee explained.
Masks are required and Steketee says under the entertainment venue rules, they are allowed a capacity of 250 people inside their 17,000 square foot facility. Cost is $8, and rental of roller skates adds $1 or rental of rollerblades adds $2. Tarry Hall also has Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours for people of all ages.
