GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Forest Hills Central High School will continue with fully-remote learning through Oct. 30 because of new COVID-19 cases.

The school currently has three confirmed positive cases, Principal Steve Passinault said in a letter to families Friday.

Other students are still awaiting test results.

Students and staff switched to fully-remote learning two days ago.

Health officials require the school to quarantine any students identified as close contacts of those infected, typically for 14 days.

Seventy students are currently in quarantine, and that number could go up depending on the results of the students still awaiting test results.

Remaining fully remote through the end of next week will hopefully clear out this round of the virus from the school, Passinault said.

School officials hope to return to the hybrid learning model during the week of Nov. 2 – as long as they don’t continue to see more COVID-19 cases among students and staff.
