The announcement was made this afternoon in a letter to parents by Rockford Public Schools Superintendent of Schools Michael Shibler.

The staff member was not present in the building during "the contagious period" and "no school contact tracing is required," according to the letter.

"As is our protocol, the building continues to be regularly sanitized per our COVID Response Plan," Shibler says.

Shibler says the district is following it COVID-19 procedures, including "working closely" with the Kent County Health Department.

"We will diligently enforce all protocols in place for the safe return to school on Monday, September 14," Shibler says.
