Portage Central High School cancels football game due to COVID-19

PORTAGE, Mich. — Portage Central High School has canceled tonight's varsity football game after a member of the team's coaching staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The team was scheduled to play East Lansing High School, according to the school this afternoon.

"We are taking these steps to ensure the safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials and spectators from both teams," the school said.

The school is working with the Kalamazoo County Health Department to give student-athletes and families information about the "next appropriate steps."
