BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Ferris State University is gearing up for students’ arrival in residence halls Aug. 26-28.
Students and their families participating in move-in should visit the university’s online portals and sign up ahead of time to make it easier to get room keys and important information before move-in, according to a news release.
“We will have our residents arrive as close to their assigned time as possible, to provide ease of access and appropriate distance for our students during this activity,” Associate Director of Housing & Residence Life Programs Lisa Ortiz said.
No more than two individuals may join each student to help them move in.
An area near the Wink Arena on the south end of campus will serve as an “Information Alley” before residents can head to their hall or apartment for move-in.
Golf carts will be available to help students move their belongings from the parking lot safely and easily.
Bryan Marquardt, director of Housing and Residence Life, said his staff is excited about the students’ return to campus.
“We want students to understand they are the key contributors to a healthy, safe residence hall or facility, by wearing masks at all appropriate times, and practicing social distancing,” he said. “This is entirely focused on their safety and well-being, which will apply equally whether they are in their residence hall, or another campus building.”
