SAND LAKE, Mich. — Tri County Area Schools is closed after a bus driver tested positive for COVID-19, according to a letter sent to families Tuesday.
Officials are still working on contact tracing and aren’t fully aware yet of all transportation staff or students affected, Superintendent Allen Cumings said.
Those who were in close contact with the driver and need to quarantine will receive a phone call from either the Mid-Michigan Department of Health or Tri County Area Schools by the end of the day Tuesday.
“If you do not receive a phone call, it means that your student was not a close contact with the individual,” Cumings’ letter said. “We are moving forward with guidance from the Mid-Michigan Health Department, and measures will be taken to protect the wellbeing of your child(ren), including thoroughly disinfecting all school buses.”
Officials plan to follow up with how this incident will affect school and transportation for the rest of the week.
