KENTWOOD, Mich. — The East Kentwood girls basketball team beat Rockford, 60-45 to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Kaliese Christopher scored 17 points in the win.
"We had to bring it tonight," Christopher said after the win, "we came out a little sluggish at the beginning, and not closing out and not doing what we need to do on the defensive end but we got to the paint."
Alexis McCully also added 16 points in the win as the Falcons were able to hold off a few different Rockford runs.
"I made sure the girls stayed focused and ran through our offense because Rockford had a great gameplan against us so we needed to understand where we needed to get to," said head coach Eric Large.
The Falcons improve to 4-0 on the season and remain near the top of the area's best teams along with East Grand Rapids and OK Red foe Hudsonville.
"It speaks a lot about West Michigan basketball on the girls side," Large added, "I think we have a lot of talent on the west side of Michigan, this is great preparation for the rest of OK Red play as well as the district tournament."
