GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The Calvin men's basketball team is scoring a lot of points this season.

"We kind of played at a slower pace in years past and now we are starting to get it moving up and down," senior forward Alex Bos said. "Sharing the basketball a lot more, trusting our teammates with the whole system, trusting coach so I definitely feel like we are trending upwards."

Bill Sall is in his first season leading the Knights and the team has won four of its last five games heading into Wednesday's rivalry showdown agasinst Hope.

"We have definitely been playing better on the offensive side specifically," senior forward Derrick DeVries said. "We are pushing the ball well, Thad (Shymanski) at point guard and Tony (DeWitte), they are getting down the floor and setting up for shots and they are hitting them which is great and it's helping us on our defense to get the ball going to.

While the team is not having problems scoring, defense might still be a concern.

"We are getting there. A lot of questions on the defensive end," Sall said. "I think that's the one thing where I'm most concerned. We just haven't adjusted to some of the things that I'd like to see us adjust to, but we have a lot of guys that can score and that is always nice when you can space the floor and make shots.

The 202nd meeting between Calvin and Hope is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
