MATTAWAN, Mich. — Former Kalamazoo United interim coach David Arrasmith has been named the next head coach at Mattawan, Arrasmith confirmed to FOX 17 on Tuesday.

Arrasmith led Kalamazoo United to a 7-5 record and a district championship in his lone season as interim head coach.

"I'm very excited to be the next head coach at Mattawan," Arrasmith said in a statement to FOX 17. "They have a great community and school system that strives for excellence and I feel honored that I have the opportunity to be a part of that. I'm ready to get to know the kids, coaches and community better so we can dig in and get ready for the 2020 season."

The 34-year-old Gobles High School graduate inherits a Wildcats program that has been to the playoffs for three consecutive seasons and went 5-5 in 2019 with an opening round loss to Forest Hills Central.

Arrasmith replaces Ryan Brown who stepped away from the program after compiling a 24-24 overall record in five seasons at the helm.
