KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Rockford wrestling would fall to Brighton, 50-11 in the Division 1 team state quarterfinal. Despite the loss, Rams junior Cole Gleason came up with a huge win in the 189 pound weight class.

It was an individual meet within the team meet as Gleason met the state's top-ranked wrestler at the weight class, Greyson Stevens. The match would go into overtime with Gleason winning with a reversal. It's the first time Stevens (49-0) has lost all season long.

"I think I made a huge statement," Gleason said after the match, "nobody wants to face me in the state finals this year, it's going to be fun. [Stevens and I] had a close match a few weeks ago, I knew I could beat him, I just came out with a different mindset."

Gleason will now prepare for next week's individual state championships at Ford Field.
