GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Kalamazoo Central took a 32-11 lead against Oak Park at the end of the first quarter in the Mayweather Classic on Saturday. However, the Knights would fight back throughout the game, cutting the Maroon Giant lead to five with just two minutes left.
However, Trevon Gunter's 21 points would help power Kalamazoo Central to victory as the Maroon Giants improve to 9-3 overall.
"In order to win a state championship, you have to travel and have to play back-to-back," head coach Ramsey Nichols said, "so we play in tournaments like this to prepare us for the postseason."
