Ryne Peterson scored 29 points to lead everyone as Pennfield ran past Coldwater on Tuesday, 57-45.

The win gives the Panthers sole possession of first place in the Interstate Eight as both teams entered the game undefeated on the season.

"This was to take first place in the I8 and they got us twice last year at the wire so this had a lot of meaning to it.," Petersen said. "I knew I had to get something going early to get the boys going."

Petersen added 9 points and 5 assists.

The Panthers built an 8-point lead after three quarters and made their free throws down the stretch to earn the win.

"Coldwater has been the benchmark and our conference," Pennfield head coach Nate Burns said. "Coming down on the bus, I knew something was different, I could tell the guys were locked in, it was quite as quietest bus ride I've ever been on and that told me that something special could happen tonight and the guys laid out on line, we really showed our toughness."
