Zeeland East broke open a close game with a strong defensive effort in the second half Thursday as the Chix beat OK Green foe Reeths-Puffer, 50-29.
Zeeland East (2-0, 2-0), which led by four at the break, outscored the Rockets 27-10 after halftime.

Nate Claerbaut led the charge for the Chix with 13 points and 10 rebounds, senior Luke Gruppen scored 11 points off the bench and senior Trip Riemersma added 10 point and 6 boards.
"This opponent was going to be stronger than last week," Nate Claerbaut said about Reeths-Puffer which had opened the season with a win over Wyoming. "We just had to come out and play hard and that is exactly what we did."
Puffer (1-1, 1-1) was led by Kendall Smith's 12 points
