(WXYZ) — Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed the situation involving wide receiver Jameson Williams.
The report said that there was an internal Detroit police investigation looking into how Williams avoided being arrested after a gun registered to him was found in a car he was riding in. He does not have a Concealed Pistol License.
The team put out a statement yesterday and Campbell said on Wednesday that Williams has been truthful with them since the beginning.
"I know that it certainly doesn’t look good. I get that. At the same token, it kind of all came on here at the same time. It’s really decision-making for him. That’s where, he knows he can be better, don’t put yourself in those situations," Campbell said. "He’s going to learn from this, grow from it."
Campbell said that he knows what Williams is made of and he judges people on what's in their hearts.
"He's worth hanging with. He's going to learn from this, he's going to grow, and he'll be better for all of this," Campbell said.
Campbell also said that he knows it's not something the team would like to be dealing with, but it said it's a bit of a "non-issue" because the team didn't have him last week and won't have him this week.
"He’s going to learn from this, he’s going to grow, and he’ll be better for all of this," he said.
