GR Area Students Create Christmas Ornaments for National Tree Lighting Ceremony

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., — Six students from Grand Rapids will head to the nation’s capitol Thursday to see ornaments they designed become part of the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

The National Christmas Tree is surrounded by 56 other trees. Every year, ornaments are made by American organizations for the trees. There is a tree for every state, territory and the District of Columbia.

The students were selected by Governor Rick Snyder’s office to custom design ornaments for Michigan’s state tree.

The students all attend West Michigan Center for the Arts and Technology.

The ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and the public can watch the ceremony via live stream.

Nicest "War on Christmas" I've witnessed. Hope FOX and O'Reilly are happy.

Nice. Fifty six trees surrounding looks very nice. It would be cool if there is another image for this one.
