LAWRENCE, Mich. – Police arrested a woman for operating a mobile meth lab in Van Buren County.
Deputies made the discovery Friday afternoon during a traffic stop.
The 41-year-old female driver was pulled over at the Marathon Gas Station located at 437 W. Saint Joseph Street.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department said the driver was initially pulled over for an equipment violation, but soon discovered she had an invalid driver’s license.
Police then searched the vehicle.
Deputies found an open container of alcohol, as well as a partially unzipped backpack on the passenger side floorboard of the vehicle.
The backpack contained a 2-liter bottle with white substance inside.
Deputies immediately suspected that it was an active one-pot meth lab vessel.
The Van Buren County Narcotics Detectives were called in and it was determined it was an active meth lab.
Police said the woman was taken to the Van Buren County Jail and the case was turned over to the prosecutor’s office.
