Poster Contest Offers Savings Bonds to Fourth and Fifth Graders

LANSING, Mich — The Michigan Committee for Severe Weather Awareness has announced its 2013 poster contest for fourth- and fifth-grade students statewide.

The annual competition encourages students to illustrate how Michigan families should prepare for severe weather, including snowstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and floods. ┬áThe committee says it is looking for posters with a clear Last year’s contest drew more than 1,300 entries.

The grand prize winner will receive a $200 U.S. Savings bond, with prizes continuing down to $50 for an honorable mention.

Instructions for submissions are available on the MCSWA website.
